Brita. Better than bottle because you don't need to buy a new one (or keep a case laying around) when you want fresh water. Plus it's better for the environment since you won't be using disposable plastic bottles.

I drink tons of water and I've always had a Brita...love em. The "PUR" water filter is solid too. As long as you change the filters every couple months you'll have as much ice cold, filtered drinking water as you'll ever want.

I do like to keep 1 or 2 bottles around so I can re-fill them with Brita water, in case I want to take some out with me.

I buy a case of water/week and then refill the bottles once with a PUR filter. I've been reading about the dangers of refilling them too much so I only do it once, this also cuts down on the amount of plastic I throw away in half smile.gif

Bottled water is such a waste of money, sorry. I've been filling up my gallon jug with straight city of Dayton tap water for years and it's plenty good. As for the "dangers" of reusing the same bottle (as I've heard from friends as well, not just scalato) I personally think that's a crock of horse shit. I've refilled bottles for an entire month between washing it out, whether that's the gallon jug, neoprene bottle, or just some random empty gatorade bottle. Healthy as can be.

That only happened when I first moved into my apartment. No one had been living in it since the complex had been built more than a year prior. Ran the faucet on all taps for about 5 minutes. Place wreaked for a good couple of hours. Now the water is fine.

Regarding Brita/PUR -- these only utilize a carbon filter that only pulls "some" of the crap that's suspended in your water. Might as well not use it if you're not replacing the filter every two-three weeks. The bacteria and other minerals will spill out of the carbon once the filter reaches about 60-70% of its max. These suck and are way too damn expensive once you stack up the filter costs. Still way more expensive than bottled, however.

Tap water is good for you in that it provides a lot of natural nutrients. Whether or not you're willing to risk a one in a blue-moon bacterial fever is up to you. Personally, we all grew up drinking out of the fountain. Millions upon millions drinking tap water. It can't be that bad for you.

Reverse-osmosis. This is the absolute pinnacle. Just add in a UV filter before stage 1 and you've got yourself the best filtered water on the planet. This will kill all bacteria, remove all bacteria and minerals. Reverse-osmosis, 3-4 stage will cost you about $100 (+$50 worth of filters annually). A UV-filter will be another $50-75 (+$60 for a new bulb every 6 months). If you own a house, there is no reason you shouldn't have one of these hooked up to your sink with a 1-2g reservoir tank.

EPA overlooks tap water, while FDA overlooks bottled water.

That alone should be reason enough to choose tap water. Also, tap water has fluoride in it while bottled doesn't.

30 pack of water is $3.88 @ Sam's and Costco. 24pack @ Wal-mart is $4.88. You are getting fucking ripped.
